Nelson Youth Softball proudly offer a free youth development softball programme to all schools in the Nelson Tasman region.

The First National Real Estate "Softball in Schools" is based around the development of basic skills and fundamentals that will allow students involved the opportunity to work in a safe enjoyable learning environment that supports the children and allows them the chance to give softball a go.

The option of 3 visits will allow the children to receive an introduction to catching, throwing and striking the ball as well as a basic grounding in the elementary rules of the game. They will then learn to use a softball glove and catch, throw and field the ball in different games situations. They are finally taught how to pitch to a batter, and measure their pitch and throwing velocity and play the game at a more competitive level.

The programme is delivered by regional development manager Marty Grant, and has received outstanding reviews from schools and students that have already hosted these sessions.
